Widows Mite Award
An award presented by the Arkansas Fellowship of Associate Members & Local Pastors.
The Widow’s Mite Award will be presented each year at Annual Conference to a church which best represents the ideal of the giving spirit of the widow who gave "everything she had, all she had to live on." (Mark 12.41-44)
2005 Winner: Ward United Methodist Church
2006 Winner: Branch United Methodist Church -- Judy Hall, pastor
2007 Winner: Damascus United Methodist Church -- Mark McDonald, pastor
2008 Winner: Atkins United Methodist Church -- Joe Kitchens, pastor
The Widow's Mite Award is given each year at the Arkansas Annual Conference. It is presented to a church that is served by a Local Pastor – Full time, Part time, or Student – or an Associate Member of Annual Conference.
There are no set rules for deciding which church deserves this award. It may be a church whose average attendance has increased markedly over the past year; it may be a church which has given to missions projects such as VIM or the Ingathering far beyond what one would expect; it may be a church which has made a significant impact in the local community, disproportionate to its size; or there may be some other reason why a particular church is deserving of the award.
The Arkansas Conference Widow’s Mite Award winner will be selected from among the nominees by the executive committee of the Arkansas FAMLP. The award will be presented during Annual Conference at Hot Springs, Arkansas in June of 2008.
Please fill out the Nomination Sheet as soon as possible. The deadline for nominations is April 20, 2008. You may cut-and-paste the nominations sheet and e-mail it to Michael Jennings at michael_jennings1959@yahoo.com, or print it out and mail it to:
